The Local Area

Kerikeri, ‘The Cradle of the Nation’s

Kerikeri is the largest town in the Far North District of the North Island of New Zealand. This popular tourist destination is about a three hour drive north of Auckland, or 45 minutes by air.

It is often described as ‘The Cradle of the Nation’ with the Stone Store and Mission buildings; it is picturesquely set amid the beautiful scenery of the ‘Winterless North’. Kerikeri is one of the fastest developing towns in NZ and has the potential for you to start or invest in a business with growing population and opportunities.

Kerikeri is rich in history and well known for its horticulture. The stunning natural beauty of the area, it’s close proximity to the beaches of the Bay Of Islands and Doubtless Bay and its temperate climate have attracted national and international interest in the area as a place to live.

Kerikeri has a number of pre-schools, four primary schools, a high school and two private schools, it has a wide variety of shopping, it has two major brand supermarkets and another in the process of being built. Only a short distance from Kerikeri is the newly developed Waipapa Retail Centre which has many large brand store as well as specialty stores. This area is still undergoing development and is set to see much more before 2015.

‘In many ways, it’s not what we have in Kerikeri that’s important to our quality of life but more what we don’t have! Cramped city living, traffic congestion and pollution that other cities suffer from.’
